There were 81 members of the Royal Army Pay Corps (RAPC) who were killed in action or by enemy action as listed in the World War 2 Roll Of Honour contained in the RAPC Journal Spring 1946 Edition. WW1 Medal records list the issue of the British and Victory Medals and the 1915 Star to Charles B Lowe. The index records show that he deployed to France on the 14 Nov 15 as a Pte in the Royal Fusiliers (Reg No: 7779) and then transferred to the APC and achieved the rank of Corporal (12339). It is not known whether he remained in the APC between the wars.

Mabel Pougher Ernest's date of death is 25 May 1943 in Bournemouth. The Luftwaffe mounted a major raid on Bournemouth on the 23 May 1943 in which 200 plus military and civilians were killed. His wife Mabel died in the same attack. Mabel Pougher, aged 26 married Ernest Pougher in the March quarter of 1940 in Holderness. By 1943 he was a Corporal in the Royal Army Pay Corps. She died at 56 Drummond Road on 23 May 1943. The CWGC record for Ernest suggests he died on 25 May; this would presumably be in the Royal Victoria Hospital, after being injured at 56 Drummond Road. Mabel was buried at St Mary’s Church, Beverley, on 29 May, as was her husband.

The raid on London on 16 April 1941 was one of the heaviest of the London Blitz when a 685 bomber raid caused more than 2,000 fires and killed over 1,000 people. The raid also damaged or destroyed historic churches and buildings.

London Gazette The Commonwealth War Graves records note that he was Mentioned in Dispatches in WW1 and held the following honours -Chevalier de L'Ordre de Leopold II and the Croix de Guere. The award is recorded in the London Gazette (see link) as follows "175065Lance Serjeant (Acting Serjeant) George Raper, 1st Queen's Own Yorkshire Dragoons." No mention is made of why he received the award. WW1 Medal Records list that he was awarded the British and Victory medals and the 1915 Star. He deployed to France as a Pte (Reg No: 2520) on the 1 Aug 15 and is later promoted to Acting Sergeant.
