There were 81 members of the Royal Army Pay Corps (RAPC) who were killed in action or by enemy action as listed in the World War 2 Roll Of Honour contained in the RAPC Journal Spring 1946 Edition. London Gazette WW1 Medal records list the issue of the British and Victory Medals and the GSM and Clasp (Iraq) to James H Golding. The index records that he was a Pte in the Essex Regt (Reg No:7105), a Pte in the Army Pay Corps (17861) and a Cpl in the APC (7657745). The assumption is that he remained in the APC after WW1 as the London Gazette records his appointment as Lt (Asst Paym) from WO1 SSM on 5 Nov 1940.

The index records that he was a Pte in the Royal Engineers Kent Fortress Company (Reg No: 1723), an Acting Sergeant in the NCC (120321) and an Acting Sergeant in the Corps of Military Accountants (7733103). The assumption is that he then served in the APC after WW1 as the London Gazette records his appointment as Lt (Asst Paymr) from WO1 SSM on 30 May 1941.
